~ L Moore March, 2010 ~

Tammie's lovely painting Forest of Dreams at Beauty Flows

reminded me so much of this poem I wrote earlier this year that I commented to Tammie on it and promised I would post it for her to see. Tammie is an amazing painter and writes poetry with her art as I often do - check out her website for some wonderful art!

Promise No 2

The second promise I am fulfilling today is posting these two artists whom I enjoy for Nicola at Nicola Toms Designs because I said I would! I love all three of these artists' styles

Singing Bird card by Anne Baird

This card which I bought at this years Harmony Arts Festival and love is painted by Anne Baird at Goddess Cards - it reminds me so much of Nicola Tom's Immoveable and yet they are also so different. Nicholas Tom is at Nicholas Tom's Designs and her art is outstanding - do take a peak

by Claire Kujundzic 1988

This is an amazing print by Clair Kujundzic I bought many years ago when I was working through post partum depression, it also reminds me of Nicola's style, similar yet again so completely different - I love that about art! Just a note this print by was a fund raiser (and is now the logo) for the Pacific Post Partum Support Society which is an amazing resource

should one need it!

There we go - some lovely work for everyone to enjoy!
Do check out the links!

Have a Great Day!

Pink Dreamer Birthday

Happy Birthday

to the Extraordinary Pink Dreamer

Well here's a birthday card for all you Scorpios
- it's called celebrate and its in your honour!

I am making this for all my November Birthday friends
With much love, much joy and many thanks
for all you are and all you will be!
Lets take take the day and celebrate you!

I wish you Fun, Joy and Love!

χρόνια πολλά

¡feliz cumpleaños!

Happy Birthday to you!!!!

Quick Tutorial:

Quick sketch or not depending on our personality..

I gathered things I already had in the house, no shopping here, what's this stash of stored bits and bobs for anyway? It is a beautiful day and I really wanted to use red. Strong, simple colours, red, black, white! I found some beautiful textured red paper left over from another project, just waiting to be used!

Glue the red card stock to a piece of delicious, textured, white, handmade paper i have been keeping for something special..

As the card stock is deep red and already embossed, I simply grabbed some favorite stamps and stamped the red with gold. Be sure to layer the stamps over both the red and the white papers for effect. Stars, I love stars, magic, celebration!

I like black with red and gold so looked for black and white patterned paper that appealed - these wonderful prints are simply torn from magazines - one was an ironing board cover photo and as the shape lent itself to a dress or body I moved towards making people. As usual it couldn't just be any people, I always veer toward fairies, angels, icons, kitch. For a Pink Dreamer party, well it had to be witches or fairies! And all fairies need crowns; more magazine paper black and whites - part of a models skirt becomes a crown simply because the print works!

Bodies need faces, I sketched one, then two; two faces fine lined and water coloured..

Wings from white with sheet music snippets glued on..

Embellish with feathers and bindis and stickers with glitter!

Hmmm, looks like a scroll now - what shall I use top and bottom of my scroll, the faces that came to me were of Asian decent, so chop sticks - I have a lovely collection in the kitchen, we can spare two!

Stamp some bright red ribbon with the word celebrate as that is what we are doing and embellish embroidery floss with glass beads and charms and attach them on each side..

Add some bells for balance and to add to the senses!

Ta da! A wonderful birthday card with you all in mind!

Lets take take the day
and celebrate you!

Pandora's Box / Πιθος Πανδώρα

Reveal

Pandora's box
of fools gold
our deepest, darkest, secrets hold

naive beauty
woman's grief
verdant garden, sister, Eve

Demeter, Mary
divine bastille
paradise lost, judgment revealed

by Lenora September 2010

I am fascinated with stories that appear and reappear throughout history, with no concern for border, century or denomination. The lesson of Pandora / the story of Eve. Demeter and Persephone / Mary and Jesus. Each account different. Each truth the same.

As a woman I wonder at the burden of grief history places squarely upon our shoulders as if somehow we are responsible for the sins of all mankind. The suggestion that beauty and allure are evil, the womb incumbent of the mystery of creation.

This is a lot fun - many thanks to
Brian and Megan of Theme Thursday!

Though we will not be able to do this weekly,
we will approach it whenever we can make the time!

The Emerald Forest - Midsummer Dream Party!

The Emerald Forest - A Midsummer's Dream
The Emerald Forest - A Midsummer's Dream
The Emerald Forest - A Midsummer's Dream

"Paint me and ideas will come!" The voice whispered on the wind again, echoing among the soaring trunks, slipping from branch to branch, dallying with the the dappled sunlight!

"We are here, search us out" and there he was - one, no two..
We looked a little closer! Small, green, wise and Yoda-like!

We whipped out our brushes, sketched the features, slopped on the moss colours, captured the image before they retreated once again into the ethereal forest!

Were we dreaming? We have visited that spot many times and only on a mid summer's are we able to see our friends once again.. for dreams are the things that life's dance is made of; each trip across the tight rope a joy, perhaps a means to an end, but always, always, with the right frame of mind and maybe a little luck, a parade of crazy and curious events!
Enjoy the journey for we are already there!

Another dream begins..

Dreaming.. my son's a day dreamer for sure and he has wanted to do a stop motion animation class for a long time; summer freedom, now was the time! Both children participated in my son's little dream and made stop motions all week, modeling clay short films, lego character short films, chess piece short films, sketched short films, painted short films; 24 clicks per second of fun! All paintings, characters and short film by T Moore (age 13) and C Moore (age 10)

Check out the other Midsummer Night's Secret Dreams here! Thanks such to our hostess Kelly of A Stuffed Life! What Fun!

Mad Tea Party 2010

Our Mad Tea Party - A Fairy Tale
Our Mad Tea Party - A Fairy Tale

Our Mad Tea Party - A Fairy Tale

Meet the two Alices..

Everybody knows that Wonderland was once flat and black and shades of grey until Alice found the Hatter's mad tea party, and then all became colourful and round and filled with great joy - but I am getting ahead of myself, for here is the story..

Once upon a time, but not so long ago as that, Alice was going to a tea party; not just any tea party, but the Mad Hatter's Tea Party in the castle in Wonderland.

At first it wasn't hard to know which path to take, because Alice knew, as all good girls do, that it was the path with the magical tree, the one that Alice's mother had planted when she was just a girl. And there it was, the magical tree! Alice recognized
it because is was green and glowing

with black and white stripes, and stood bearing no fruit or leaves, next to the image of the mother herself. Yes, at first it was easy to choose the right path. But when Alice came to a fork in the road, she had to stop and consider, "who am I and which way do I go?"

Immediately the Cheshire Cat appeared on the path.

"Given to mother when she turns out the light,
with a hug for father when he comes home at night,
Given to your cat with a scratch behind the ear,
Calms a toddler, dries a tear.

What is it?" crooned the Cheshire Cat, grinning from ear to ear.

Alice knew that once she had solved the riddle,
she would know which direction to take.

"Why that's easy" said Alice "a kiss is the answer." Immediately the Cheshire Cat disappeared and Alice knew she must turn right for down that path she could see baskets and buckets

overflowing with pink kisses and they were growing in colourful abundance. So Alice continued skipping along, knowing that she had made a good choice because she felt very happy and joyous as we all do when we make a good decision.

As we do on our journeys, Alice soon came to another fork in the road, and immediately her way was blocked by the appearance of a rather large Caterpillar smoking bubblegum and lounging on a even larger mushroom.

"Found in dampness, shade and rot,
Red and white and polk-a-dot,
Eat one side and you'll grow tall,
Eat the other, not at all."

said the Caterpillar between bubbles.

Once again Alice knew that she must consider the riddle and then she would know which way to go. Alice hesitated, for she knew little about damp and shade and rot; but after a time, as life does, the caterpillar gave her a clue;

"Slice them on salad, fry them for tea,
stuff them, saute them, now think of me"

"Oh I see, it's obvious then isn't it" said Alice, listening to her heart, but the caterpillar was already crawling away through the grass. "The answer is a mushroom" Alice decided. Now Alice could choose the right path, which was actually the path to her right, with the very large mushrooms growing by its side.

"Right or wrong, right or left; in Wonderland these are the same question" thought Alice, and immediately it became clear that in Wonderland she must always choose the Right path to travel when she came to a fork in the road, for every time she make a choice she was in a different place altogether; and she really did want to make sure it is the right place, after all.

With this information Alice's journey became much easier. Whenever she came to a junction she simply chose what was right and soon she came to her destination all by herself for now she trusted her answer even before she heard the riddles.

In time Alice came to a grand tea party,

in a grand castle. Alice knew she was in the right place, for the

doorway was lit with little stars. Of course this was the Mad Hatter's tea party.

There were stacks of beauty and jars of sweetness,

platters of cake,

bubbles of great joy,

and all manner of exotic and lovely things. And without delay it began to rain teacups, for in Wonderland when someone finds their destination, that is what it does.
And shortly the Mad Hatter appeared.

"You have chosen well young Alice" flourished the hatter (and like the rest of us, it was clear that he too was really quite mad; but it did not matter, for a little craziness pointed in the right direction makes life quite wonderful). "Only those who choose that which is honourable and good and kind ever find my tea party, whether they be poor or rich, simple or cunning, sensible or even quite mad like myself!"

Mad as he was, the hatter was kind and friendly and good, and in the end Alice knew that that was what counted in Wonderland.

So Alice pulled up a seat, a golden throne next to her mother at the far end of the lace covered table and joined in the party
with great joy!
