Roma 2011

Roma 2011

In my memory from the summer, this rendition of
Mary was not ancient but modern.. we found her painted
on an ancient wall; in her hand, I believe a crystal ball,
though mine looks much more like a tomato :-)

when in Italy, food is always on the brain..
and the Campo de Fiori market was just around the corner..

Mary tightened her shawl, protecting herself from the chill air
as she set out to feed the hungry with the few veggies
she had pulled from her orto early that morning..

Dance

As a dance mom there is always something balletic going on,
even in the summer..

This detail from a sketch turned painting of my daughter's solo
is by my sister-in-law so I just had to post it!

I love how she's caught the shimmer of the fabric!

My daughter is super excited she is now on pointe,
so auntie's next painting can include pointe shoes!

Happy Sunday! and please check out the other's at BlueChairDiary

Londino

British Museum mummies, Londino

After Italy, the UK. The British Museum and all its amazing mummies made for great entertainment and wonderful sketch opportunities
for myself and the children..

Egyptian mummy C Moore age 11

It is truly amazing how large pieces of other cultures artifacts are housed in London - I wonder when they will come asking for them all back LOL :-)

For Sophia

Maria in Trono

These are some quick sketches I did while recently in Rome.
I so love Roma, oodles and oodles of art and history and art,
Madonnas on every corner looking down on you, bells and cobble and pillars and everything so very old and layered.. ahhh!

Today's sketches are dedicated to Sophia's Father..

may he and she be carried by friends and family
at this difficult time..

Madonna con il bambino

the first is "Maria in Trono" (mosaic)
the second is "Madonna con il bambino"

Both are found in one of my favorite churches in Rome
the Amazing Basilica di Santa Maria in Trastavere, Roma

Visit Sophia's heart warming
Bluechairdiary and give her a hug..

Wonderful Waterfall

Waterfall by T Moore age 14

Is everyone this busy?! Once again we have had to lop a few things out of our May / June schedule of recitals and busy year end. Today, however, we are happy to join you! This painting is from my son's sketch this week. It is a lush landscape of greenery and waterfalls. He sold his painting at a school fundraiser organized called Grade 7 Cafe, featuring a movie made by Grade 7 and the sale of their artwork and baked goods. Monies raised by Grade 7 will be used for the building of a school in Haiti.

Congratulations Grade 7, what a wonderful event!

Have a great Sunday!

And Happy Birthday Lise-Lotte!
