We're Back!!

Sooo sorry.. we have missed you all! This last week has been a whirlwind of competitions and obligations and Sunday Sketches was simply out of reach, but we are back at it!

Albert E by T Moore age 13

This fabulous exercise is by my 13 year old son, the photo half is on the right and his sketch is the portion on the left (in case you could not choose :-) !! I love it!

Mary by T Moore and C Moore ages 13 and 11

To recap some Easter projects you missed, here are some Cascarones, those little egg pinatas we make every Easter.

Greek Easter buns, using traditional onion skin dyeing. The children make these most years and deliver them to family and friends!

As for the Royal Wedding,
I have to say some of those hats were killing me!
Love the bride and her sister though!
Not to mention the wee flower girls!

Happy Spring (still cold here though!) Happy Sunday!

Buy Quakebook! Japan

Cheese Girl by C Moore age 11

My daughter and I have been doodling girls.
Not sure where we were going with these but we will see :-)

Queens of Hearts

Also wanted to mention this cool project, Quakebook,
completed in a week by Blog Artists like all of you!
All proceeds to Red Cross Japan Relief! Its a really fabulous art idea!

With all the new social technology at our finger tips - its gives me hope to see what people are doing with it. In the world as it is today it is great to know how many good people there are out there! Maybe one day there really will be peace on earth!

Hope!!!

Mary by S B age 11

With that in mind my daughter's friend, age 11 used his mom's ipad to draw this techno finger painting for a 'Mary" collage..
we thought the results were pretty cool!

Dog Painting for Daddy

Draco by C Moore age 11

The only one of us that was at all productive this week in the art sphere was my daughter taking a past sketch called Draco and redoing it in 'paint' on the computer

Puppy C Moore age 11

and painting this puppy sketch for her dad's office!

I did however finish putting together the memory journals for my friend's daughters in honour of my friend, their mother, who passed away, and I cleaned out the art studio, which was long overdue! Check, check! :-)

In Loving Memory

In loving memory

simple gesture, kind, humble
a trinket left on the children's bed, unannounced treasure
gentle soul
heart of gold

may you rest in peace

Mountains by C Moore age 11

This so reminds me of work by the group of seven!

Our hearts and prayers
to all those affected by the events in Japan

An easy way to help with relief in Japan

Salvation Army: To contribute to earthquake relief, text 'JAPAN' or 'QUAKE' to 80888 to make a $10 donation or visit SalvationArmyUSA.org. Please note that text donations though easy usually take 30 to 60 days to move from carrier to releif organization. That said mobile donations were effective in raising over 32 million toward aid to Haiti in the 2010 earthquake.

Red Cross: Text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 from your phone. This will donate to the general Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, so if you want to ensure that it goes to Japan you'll have to donate from their Web site.

In Honour of Your Mama

In honour of your mama..

Your mother was a true princess in every sense of the word. She was patient and kind, and rejoiced in the truth. I do not remember a time when your mama spoke a cruel word or laughed at someone else’s expense. She was neither envious nor boastful and always more interested in others than in herself. In the whole of my life I have only met two people who so clearly thought things through before they spoke. Your mom endured all things, hoped all things and believed all things. With her strength and quiet, your mother touched many.

I recall your mothers clear eyes and her smile and it stills my soul. It is a gift that your mom has left with many and it is a quietude that you will always find tucked in beside your heart. Your mom is a genuine princess, an angel, and I know she looks down and cares for you from above. She is a rare creature of God. Call to her when you are in need, ask her to pray for you in times of sadness and of joy, close your eyes, find your stillness, she is there.

With much love xxxx L

OHOW Heartfelt Poem

Coat Rack T Moore age 13

Baby Meerkat C Moore age 11

Life for Agnes was somehow a little more free,
when the men were away frighting the Crusades..

We also wanted to show you what we used some of our Sunday Sketches for last week!
My daughter and I created a little poem about the circle and cycle of love and used some of our sketches to illustrate it for One Heart One World.

One heart, one world

one world, one child

one child, one smile

one smile, one wish

one wish, one star

one star, one kiss

one kiss, one frog

one frog, one prince

one prince, one love

one love, one key

one key, one heart

one heart, one world

Our OHOW journal was won by Beth P of New Hampshire!
Now Beth can fill the journal with her own daily musings!

Thanks again, Sophia of Sunday Sketches
for hosting this creative group!

And our week of awesome things for the Brave Girls Club:
