Time Lines

Submit, submit, submit! I can't seem to focus on all the submissions
I want to do and yet there they are, almost complete,
crying to be finished and I can't seem to get at them!

Do you ever fly this spiral? The studio is a circus of tea stained lace and textured paper, art dolls and rosettes - the sun is shining and yet the (have) to do list is way too long, laughing children home already
- I shouldn't even be doing this now!

Ok just had to vent! The creative mind - blessing and curse! Time for an affirmation, after all; we all know dreams do come true!

I will complete. I will submit (on time :-)

I have completed - I have submitted on time!
I have completed - I have submitted on time!

Have a great day!

The Mind's Eye

Eyes, Vision, Insight..

Here are our Sunday Sketches! Using quick, on the spot imagery we have each created a sensory exercise describing the eye visually and in verse.

I open my eyes, so i can see
the beautiful world
that is before me

by C Moore age 10 (c) 2010

Without our eyes, we could not see
the delicate flower, the resplendent tree.
So let us remember and not forget
our eyes may be the best things yet.

by T Moore age 12 (c) 2010

What is this? my son has taken two photos of his sketch and made an anaglyph image. Put on your 3D glasses (the ones that are red and blue) and check it out!

Enjoy! L C and T

- for those who asked, I have post the story behind last weeks little fairy Renewal (check out So Here's Her Story, Wednesday, May 12).

So Here's Her Story

The story behind last weeks Sunday sketches,
she is simply a sketch of one of my faerie art dolls.

As I mentioned, like the rest of us, my faeries all have a story..

Renewal (she is viridian, genesis, prelude, creation) is one of my art dolls; a voodoo doll, a Milagros; made as a votive with a particular friend in mind during the process. Milagros in Spanish means miracle. They are small charms offered in hope that someone will get well.
Renewal is a meditation, a prayer, she is an amulet.

Like your loved ones, some of my friends and family have had more than their share of issues to deal with; such is life. They have been in need of, and worked towards, their own miracle. I find art a therapeutic way to express my sympathy, my caring, my love and
support for someone in a time of need.

I have been frustrated with how little I can do when a friend is diagnosed with breast or uterine cancer or has an overwhelming issue of any kind. I can be there, give ideas around health care in the case of breast cancer as I have been touched by that myself. I can organize meal trees, care for children. I can cry, I can listen, I can pray but I am left wanting to do more; and this is how my wee fairies were born. They are talisman, my fighting prayer in physical form.

They are named, Hope, Strength, Love, Courage, Guardian and they have evolved as primitive dolls; an embodiment of a wish for healing. I have taught art workshops over the years and this felting class, Felted Milagros, is still one of my favorites to teach. There we work toward being part of a creative force; we explore areas of our life that may be in need of a little miracle, express our thanks for our own miracles or wish someone a miracle,
and this we express by giving our creativity a physical form.
Renewal is the embodiment of a healing wish.

Musings of a Faerie Matriarch

Renewal L Moore (c) 2010
- yes she has a story, but that is for another day..

Faeries, Sunday sketches and Mother's Day! Time to question my choices. Was it such a good idea to give up my regular 9-5 so I could be home to raise my heirs? So i could (maybe - i mean really, admit it, is this stuff actually in our control at all? - who do i think i am? overachiever that's for sure) creatively raise my children myself - the way i wanted; with calm (LOL) and reverence, respect, creativity and hard work.

A Gift to the World detail by C Moore age 10 (c) 2010
C says "yes, she is pregnant!"

So i could really guide them in cultivating their academic, artistic, physical and spiritual gifts? So i could take the time and do it right, be part of the process, nurture, support; actually hear my children, listen, be at the breakfast table with them, surround them with a beautiful environment. So when the time comes, my husband and i have successors deserving of our amassed fortune! So the world will be a better place.

A Gift to the World by C Moore age 10 (c) 2010

Ok, it hasn't been that simple, or that calm but our children are happy, hard working, amazingly bright, creative, talented (probably yours are too) and actually, the credit is all theirs - i have learned more from them than they from me - and the fun is all mine!

Acorn Fairy by T Moore age 12 (c) 2010
