The Knot

The Knot

blue dinghies bouncing on steel gray waves
olive leaves, silver green
dusty, worn white, lime washed peeling walls
laughter, warm sea-salted breeze
emotions entangled, forever in knots

ginger curls bobbing on a sunburnt breeze
tanned skin, golden bronze
powdery soft, blue cotton washed vest
peach blush, lascivious smile
ferocious desire, heart tied in knots

Knots usually remind me of strength, of security, of love. The first visual that came to mind this morning was the place and circumstance of meeting my husband, and that is a wonderful way to start the day!

This is a great exercise in promptly putting a thought to paper, based on a word and what it may stir in ones thoughts. There's more at Theme Thursday.

The Fence

The Fence

The wall was long and high
10 meters and more
Doubled, then tripled; a dusty moat in places where the city edged too close
Separation, held apart
Families, sisters, aunts, brothers in arms

Most of the world unaware of this country within a country
Not nearly so famous as the Berlin wall, but with a story; intriguing should one know, or bother to read about it
Colonial history
Human walls, built to keep people in, built to keep people out

When will we learn?

The Melilla Wall surrounds Melilla a piece of Spain in North Africa. The Ceuta Border Fence and its razor wire encircles Ceuta, another piece of colonial Spain in Africa. I am fascinated that I knew nothing about these fences until I read the intriguing novel A Handful of Honey, by Annie Hawes - an entertaining read by the way if you like armchair travel!

Again thanks for the triggering our imagination,
check out other Fences this week at Theme Thursday!

Poetry and Verse

There is poetry filling up our house! Handwritten / typed on an ancient typewritter Santa once brought / lying 'round the floor of the playroom / on torn scraps in the art room / sent to me via e-mail!

Here are two of T's poems. He is 12 years old.

Rapture

The sweet honey and luscious chocolate
are an elaborate dream from near a place where wind
whispers to eternity and cool blue watery sea spray
floods the sun and shadows the gorgeous summer sky

Indulgence

Love

Love is a language of its own; easy to gain
easy to lose. Sometimes we miss the
most important & wonderful gifts of life - we fail to stop to see a
gorgeous moment or listen to the
singing poem of Love. It is magnificent
to see through the dark shadows & soar through a dream full of Love.

This is wonderful! March Project 1 - Poetry - Complete!

Have a great day!
