  7. She is breathtakingly beautiful! I have not seen an icon like this in some time. I used to visit a Russian Orthodox church with a friend and I would see icons similar to this there, so beautiful. Yours is so soft in expression and the colors so deep and vivid. The stars on her cloak are marvelous and the bright moonlit halo behind her ~ wonderful. I love it! Thanks for joining us!

  8. I love your blue icon. There's a different look in her face--a shyness.

  10. Fran, funny you say shyness, when i painted her i was aiming for a peaceful 'Mona' type smile, a serene look, but she wouldn't have it.. in fact at one point i had the look, just as i'd envisioned only one more line to tweak but each stroke brought her back to this.. she did not want to look content, I interpreted it as a deep sadness and i could not shake it from her, i could not ease her pain, it was a mystery, part of who she was. Every time i look at her in my kitchen i see it and it breaks my heart a little.. but maybe shyness, she was so young, i like that, will ponder it.. - thx! L
